Q SWIFT
Coach Q is a battle-tested champion in several martial arts. He started learning how to box between the ages of 4 and 5 under his uncle, Dwayne Swift (a World Boxing Council Hall of Fame Lightweight Champion), and his grandfather. He also learned karate from his uncles—who are all karate black belts.

At age 17, Coach Q began learning wrestling and ended his first and only year as MVP of his team. Coach Q then moved on to training Mixed Martial Arts ("MMA") in the summer of 2004 and had his first MMA fight in January 2005. Coach Q also maintained his love of boxing and won the Fuller Park boxing open in 2003. Coach Q's overall MMA career record is 10-1 and, as an amateur, he was ranked as high as the No. 4 MMA fighter in the world. In 2014, Coach Q became the only fighter in Illinois history to win the Illinois Regional LW MMA Championship. Coach Q also trained Muay Thai under Anthony Marquez at EKF.

Coach Q started training BJJ in the Gi in 2013 under BJJ black belt, Jay Valko. He earned his black belt in BJJ in December 2021. Throughout his BJJ career, Coach Q has won the IBJJF Chicago Open four times (at white belt, purple belt, brown belt and black belt), won second place at the No-Gi IBJJF Worlds, has gone 3-0 under the Fight 2 Win BJJ promotion, 2-0 with TapOut Cancer, and is a NAGA and New Breed champion.

As the head BJJ coach at Mac's Gym, Coach Q brings his wealth of knowledge and experience to every single class. Coach Q incorporates fundamental BJJ techniques with elements of wrestling and MMA, making his classes extremely dynamic and beneficial to beginners and advanced students alike.
