The Hand Foot Art

TaeKwonDo is a traditional art of self-defense that originated in Korea. It is recognized as one of the oldest forms of martial arts in the world, reaching back over 2,000 years. The name was selected for its appropriate description of the art: Tae (foot), Kwon (hand), Do (art). It is a discipline that shows ways of enhancing our spirit and life through training our body and mind. TaeKwonDo is about taking one aspect of fighting, in this case, kicking, to its highest potential. It's about controlling distance, catching the other fighter when they back up, putting kicks together in combination, and using loose speed and deception to never let your opponent settle into his own rhythm. Join us for our Adult TaeKwonDo classes on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Rank Testing

At Mac's Gym, we hold testing on a specific Saturday every other month. Testing is each student's chance to show their instructors that they are proficient in the techniques that correlate with their specific rank. Every student is expected to show competence in their forms, knowledge of TaeKwonDo and Korean history, and specific techniques in order to achieve their next rank. As students advance, their testings will also include sparring and board breaking. To be eligible for testing, all students need three stripes on their belt, unless they are a senior rank and have shown advancement in their technique and leadership at the gym.
